The service is always friendly, and sometimes they may take a little bit to get the food out, but it is well worth it. As I understand they are a family business and sometimes are a little short handed. Anyway, not being much of a pork person I really enjoy their pulled chicken platter. The mac and cheese is by far the best in town, and the brisket is always tender! Give them another chance and I guarantee they will knock your socks off!! If you read my other posts, you will see that it is rare that I give a "bad" review of many restaurants. I am also absolutely certain that I was there on a bad day. If it was a normal day, they would not be able to stay open more than a few months. Even if it was a bad day, it shows something in my eyes - a complete lack or pride in their product. Why would they serve this to a customer in the first place? They would be better served to tell the customer that they pride themselves on quality and they do not have any BBQ ready at that time. Then I would have chosen something else off the menu, and been impressed (by their pride in quality) enough to go back and try the BBQ another time. Without a doubt, the BBQ I was served had water added to it. I do agree about the atmosphere. I liked it a lot. Anyway, I appreciate the comment. I loved the food at Bert and Gerts. The BBQ was the best I have ever had. The atmosphere was great. I have been there numerous times and have enjoyed each time.
